He defeated an independent contestant Abdul Hasan (2,474 votes) and Mohammad Saleem of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) (1,351 votes). The formal oath-taking ceremony was conducted on February 7, 2025.

Previous Leadership (2018-2025)

In the 2018 elections, Nasima Begum of the Indian National Congress (INC) was elected chairperson. She polled 2,603 votes and defeated independent candidate Mehtab Jahan. She was in office until 2025 when Rizwan Ahmad was elected.
